Realized on the occasion of Lucca Collezionando 2023, the artbook “Cari inferiori” is a passionate homage to the various supporting actors, more or less important, who actively contributed to immortalize the film saga of Fantozzi. In a choral fresco, where Paolo Villaggio’s lucid and ruthless satire portrays Italian society with episodes that still hit like lashes even after fifty years, the supporting actors cease to be just that and become true pieces of a mosaic without which the whole structure loses much of its efficacy. From this consideration arises the author’s tribute, as an act of love towards a cinema that is only apparently pure entertainment, but instead reveals a historialized sociological reading of rare effectiveness.
