Film Disclosure with Dario Ceruti

The casting director is a figure who contributes significantly to the shape of a film, working closely with production, direction, and actors. The meeting with Dario Ceruti (Casting Director of “The First Beautiful Thing” by Paolo Virzì, “Anna” by Niccolò Ammaniti, “The Story” by Francesca Archibugi, “Like a Cat on a Highway” by Riccardo Milani, “Children Can” by Walter Veltroni) will reconstruct, with the help of videos (auditions, excerpts), the journey that leads to the final composition of a cast. By telling the main issues related to the profession and tasks of the casting director, it will offer the audience the opportunity to understand the essential role it plays in the making of a film or television series.

Dario Ceruti approached theater at a very young age with a small local company. After a master’s degree in communication and a specialization in advertising direction and music videos, he started working in cinema collaborating with directors such as Paolo Virzì, Niccolò Ammaniti, Francesca Archibugi, Marco Tullio Giordana, Riccardo Milani, Edoardo Falcone, Lucio Pellegrini, Eugenio Cappuccio, Sabina Guzzanti, Roan Johnson, Walter Veltroni, etc.
His work spans between cinema and theater, where he collaborates as a casting director and assistant director. Among the most significant productions are “Like Crazy”, “The First Beautiful Thing”, “Every Blessed Day”, and the TV series “Anna”, “The Miracle”, “I May Destroy You”, “The Story”, etc.

He has conducted in-depth seminars for the Experimental Cinematography Center in Rome and the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. He has collaborated with the Turin Film Festival in organizing the opening and closing ceremonies. Since 2015, he has been the organizational manager of the “ORIZZONTI EXTRA” section for the Mostra Internazionale D’Arte Cinematografica la Biennale di Venezia.
