The Pasolinian Universe
The meeting will be moderated by Simone Bardoni

The famous Italian actor who accompanied a large part of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s career tells his story to the audience of Effetto Venezia in a dialogue dedicated to his relationship with the Italian film world.

Ninetto Davoli
Discovered at a young age by Pier Paolo Pasolini, Ninetto (a diminutive of Giovanni, given his tender age when he began acting) formed a true partnership with the director of Friulian origins, taking part, among others, in The Gospel According to St. Matthew (1964), The Hawks and the Sparrows (1966) alongside an elderly and unusually melancholic Totò, Oedipus Rex (1967), Theorem (1968), Pigsty (1969), The Decameron (1971), The Canterbury Tales (1972), and Arabian Nights (1974).

His fame, achieved at the perfect intersection with the fresh and spontaneous Roman spirit sought after throughout Pasolini’s cinematic career until his tragic demise, allowed him to subsequently work alongside directors of the caliber of Bernardo Bertolucci (Partner, 1968), Giuliano Montaldo (Agnes, the Victim, 1976), Elio Petri (Good News, 1979), Gianni Amelio (Happy to Be Different, 2014), and in the biopic dedicated to his great friend Pasolini in the same year, directed by Abel Ferrara.

In 2007, he received the Ciak d’oro for Best Supporting Actor for Uno su due by Eugenio Cappuccio, and in 2015, he was awarded the Nastro d’Argento for his career.
