Facing Macbeth after Orson, Akira, and Roman requires some ideas, at least a couple of talented actors, and a mountain of arrogance, which the Greeks called hybris. That, the hybris, and fate and free will are some of the numerous themes that run through William Shakespeare’s shortest tragedy; the shortest and – along with Titus Andronicus – the bloodiest. These are the themes that interest us.
